PoE 2 Verisium Farming Guide for Beginners

In Path of Exile 2, hitting the endgame means learning a handful of new mechanics, and one of the absolute most important resources you’ll run into is Verisium. If you haven't interacted with it yet, Verisium is a vital resource that serves as the backbone for the incredibly powerful Runeforging crafting mechanic.

Getting your hands on it allows you to add a brand-new defensive layer to your gear called Runic Ward. Alternatively, if your build doesn't need that specific defense, you can trade the raw ore with the NPC Pharaoh for highly valuable runes that can completely transform your setup or make you rich on the trade market.

Whether you're struggling to find your first node or looking to maximize your hourly yield, this guide will walk you through exactly how to set up, farm, and cash in on your Verisium.

1. Complete the Prerequisite Quest Line

Before you get too excited and start hunting for Verisium nodes, there's a bit of homework you need to do. Verisium won't reliably spawn in your maps, and you won't even be able to use the endgame crafting anvil until you unlock the entire system through the Dark Mists / Expedition campaign questline. It's a quick, linear chain, so just knock it out as soon as you can:

  • Defeat Captain Hartlin: Head over to the Journey's End zone. Locate this boss, take him down, and make sure to pick up the Verisium quest item he drops.

  • Deliver to Dannig: Take that quest item back to town and give it to Dannig, who hangs out right near the Kingsmarch Salvage Bench. He will take the raw materials and forge them into Verisium Spikes for you.

  • Defeat Omniphobia: With your spikes ready, head back to the Karui Totem in the Journey's End zone. This will trigger a Delirium Mirror encounter. Keep your guard up, find Omniphobia inside the mist, and defeat them to fully open up the system.

2. Primary Verisium Farming Strategies

Once your questline is finished, Verisium becomes a permanent part of your endgame loop. Depending on your current build strength and Atlas progression, you'll want to lean into one of two main farming strategies.

Strategy A: Grand Expedition Mapping (Highest Yield)

If your goal is to generate the absolute maximum amount of pure Verisium per hour, you want to focus your attention entirely on targeted Grand Expedition encounters rather than mindlessly grinding random standard maps.

  • Select Master Jedo: When you are configuring your Atlas passive tree, make sure to spec into Jedo master nodes. Specifically, you want the Veracian Remnants passive. This gives you a 10% chance to roll remnants an additional time, which dramatically spikes your average yield over time.

  • Target Verisium Remnants: As soon as you enter a Grand Expedition, don't just start blowing things up randomly. Scout the layout immediately. You are explicitly looking for remnants that feature 7 to 8 rune reward slots. These slots act as massive multipliers for both your Verisium drops and high-tier monster spawns.

  • Utilize the Mirror of the Fallen Skies: Completing the initial prerequisite questline grants you access to this unique map. Run it, complete the encounter, and make sure to choose Alder's Saga as your reward. This specific modifier forces all your subsequent Grand Expeditions to guarantee 6 or more rune slots per Verisium encounter, giving you a massive, permanent baseline boost to your loot.

Strategy B: Speed Mapping

If your Atlas isn't fully set up yet, or if you're just waiting on more Grand Expedition materials to accumulate, you can still find standard Verisium nodes naturally spawning out in normal endgame Maps.

  • Maximize Maps Per Hour: When you're farming this way, your mindset needs to change. Do not waste time clearing out entire zones or picking up trash loot. Zoom straight through the map layout utilizing high-mobility movement skills like Dash or Flash. Spot the resource nodes or Lost Shipments on your minimap, pop them, collect the ore, and instantly leave for the next map.

  • Unlock Underground Logbooks: While running logbook expeditions, keep a very close eye on your minimap for small cave icons. When you spot one, use your explosives to blast the entrance open. These hidden underground sections are incredibly important because exploring them is how you permanently unlock the hidden Verisium Anvil crafting recipes for your account.

3. How to Turn Your Verisium into Profit

Now that you have stockpiles of shiny blue ore sitting in your inventory, it's time to actually use it. You have two primary paths to turn this raw resource into real character power or currency:

Runeforging & Runic Ward

If you take your armor pieces over to the Verisium Anvil, you can forge them into a special hybrid type. Doing this will slightly lower your armor's base native defenses (like its raw evasion or standard armor values), but in exchange, it adds Runic Ward. Runic Ward acts as an extra flat health cushion that stays completely independent of your energy shield and life pool, activating to absorb damage the moment your primary barriers deplete. For many hybrid builds, this is an incredible layer of extra survivability.

The Pharaoh Exchange

What if your build relies strictly on pure evasion or pure armor scales, making Runic Ward completely unoptimal for your setup? Don't worry—you aren't left out. Instead of crafting, you should hoard every single bit of raw Verisium you find.

Take your stockpiles to the NPC Pharaoh, who can be found in Acts 3 and 4. You can hand over large quantities of raw Verisium to him in exchange for randomized runes. This functions as a fantastic lottery box, giving you a steady chance to pull incredibly rare, high-tier runes that you can immediately flip on the player market for a massive handful of Divine Orbs.

Pro-Tip for Beginners: Early on in a league, selling the raw runes you get from Pharaoh is often much more reliable for building up your initial character budget than trying to self-craft perfect hybrid armor pieces. Figure out what your build needs early, and use the trade market to your advantage!
