Thinking about a used L322 or a 2016 Sport but the air suspension horror stories are scaring me off

Alright so my lease is ending in a few months and instead of getting into another boring saloon I've got this itch to finally just get the Range Rover I've wanted since I was a teenager watching Top Gear reruns, but every single person I mention it to gives me that look like I just told them I'm planning to set a pile of cash on fire in the middle of my living room. I've been looking at a couple of options online, mostly 2014 to 2016 Sports with the supercharged V6 because the V8 insurance here is just stupid expensive, and one L322 that looks absolutely mint in the photos but has obviously been parked outside in Jumeirah sun its whole life so the plastics are probably ready to disintegrate the second I touch them. The main thing that keeps me up at night besides the fuel economy is the air suspension because I've heard the bags and the compressor just give up on life without much warning and then you're looking at a car that's slammed on the ground like a stance build gone wrong. I'm trying to be smart about it and not just walk into a showroom and fall in love with shiny paint, so I've been reading up on whether a proper Range Rover Pre Purchase Check Dubai is actually worth the time or if most of the common faults are things you can spot with just a good test drive and a keen eye for dashboard errors. Has anyone here actually pulled the trigger on a used Rover out here and not regretted it six months later or is the whole "never buy a British car without a warranty" thing actually gospel truth in this climate.
